Reviews are the whole point of Cowichan Connection, so we keep them honest.
Who can leave a review
- You need a free account and must be signed in.
- You can review each business once. You can review as many different businesses as you like, including several in the same trade.
- Business owners can’t review their own business.
Every review is checked
Reviews are held for moderation and published once approved. We don’t edit what you write. We only decide whether it’s published.
We won’t publish reviews that:
- aren’t about a real experience with the business
- come from the business, its staff, family, or a competitor
- include personal information, threats, hate, or profanity
- are part of a batch of reviews that look coordinated
- are about a different business or a price dispute with no service experience
We publish negative reviews that follow these rules. A bad experience honestly described is useful to your neighbours.
How rankings work
Trades are ordered by their star rating, adjusted for how many reviews they have. That way one 5-star review can’t outrank a business with dozens of strong reviews. The “Top 3 highest-rated” box is based only on reviews. It can’t be bought.
Featured businesses pay for a clearly labelled “Featured” spot. Featured placement never changes a business’s star rating or its place in the rankings.
For businesses
Verified and Featured businesses can reply publicly to reviews. If you believe a review breaks the rules above, contact us with the details and we’ll look at it. We don’t remove reviews just because they’re negative.
